Our Client is recruiting a Financial Lines Claims Manager for a full-time, hybrid contract role in London.
The role will oversee claims services delivered through delegated authority programmes across the UK, Europe and US. It will suit an experienced Financial Lines claims professional who can manage complex referrals, monitor programme performance and maintain effective internal and external relationships.
The salary is £115,000 per annum, plus discretionary bonus, for 37.50 hours per week. UK and overseas travel will be required when undertaking claims due diligence reviews.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor in-house claims functions and third-party claims administrators, ensuring compliance with claims handling agreements and agreed service standards
- Manage accurate and timely referrals of large, complex claims and cases outside delegated authority, maintaining appropriate documentation and internal claims records
- Monitor referred claims closely and report new claims and significant loss movements to management, reinsurers and other relevant parties
- Provide the actuarial team with the information needed to establish claim-specific incurred but not reported reserves at quarter-end
- Oversee monthly claims performance analysis for live delegated authority programmes and third-party administrators, assessing results against expectations and forecasts
- Conduct claims due diligence reviews for new opportunities, including UK and overseas travel as required
- Follow up and resolve claims audit findings and actions with delegated partners and third-party administrators, providing feedback to the internal audit function
- Support the resolution of claims-related complaints
- Build and maintain relationships with external parties relevant to each claim or programme
- Review third-party claims administrators’ contracts with external suppliers where required, ensuring appropriate rates and terms are in place
- Oversee projects and complete other assigned duties
- Maintain compliance with applicable UK and international statutory and regulatory obligations, including sanctions, financial crime and local licensing requirements
- Support prudent business management, give due regard to customers’ interests and follow whistleblowing procedures
- Apply Consumer Duty principles where relevant to support good outcomes for retail customers
Experience required:
- At least 10 years’ claims experience across a range of Financial Lines classes, such as Directors and Officers, Professional Indemnity, Cyber, Political Risk, Contingency, After the Event and Legal Expenses
- Strong technical claims knowledge and experience
- Effective communication, negotiation and influencing skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to strict deadlines in a changing environment
- Good written reporting skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with sound general IT knowledge
- Exposure to claims across several European jurisdictions would be advantageous
- Experience of delegated authorities or programme management would be advantageous
- Fluency in Italian or another European language would be advantageous
- A legal or CII qualification would be advantageous
